Claude partial outage

ClaudeAnthropicservice outageincident response

Anthropic reported elevated error rates affecting claude.ai, the Claude desktop and mobile apps, Claude Console (platform.claude.com), the Claude API (api.anthropic.com), Claude Code, and Claude Cowork. Users saw failed requests, errors loading or sending conversations, or were asked to sign in again, with retries sometimes succeeding. Impact occurred from 07:00 PT / 14:00 UTC to 07:59 PT / 14:59 UTC.

A mitigation applied at 14:36 UTC substantially dropped error rates and restored most existing conversations, but some sign-in attempts, account actions, and Claude Code and Cowork sessions continued to fail. A second issue then prevented many users from signing in — with single sign-on and Sign in with Apple unavailable — starting new chats, using voice conversations and Claude Code or Cowork sessions, making purchases, and uploading files. Users who were already signed in were advised not to sign out while the fix was developed.

By 14:59 UTC, most services had recovered: signing in, starting new chats, voice conversations, Claude Code and Cowork sessions, purchases, and file uploads were working again. Anthropic warned that some messages sent between 14:00 and 14:59 UTC may not have been saved, and said it would continue monitoring closely. A later update confirmed all services had been operating normally since 14:59 UTC.

The incident was ultimately resolved, with services operating normally since recovery. The episode highlights the broad surface area of Anthropic's ecosystem — from consumer apps and API to coding and collaboration tools — that can be affected by a single outage, as well as the risk of message loss during the affected window.
