Robin Williams' Daughter to Fans Creating AI Videos: 'Have Some Shame'
Zelda Williams is calling for fans to stop circulating AI-generated videos of her late father, Robin Williams, nearly a year after she last took to social media to ask people not to send her augmented content featuring the actor. In a statement posted to X on Monday, dated September 21, 2026, the Lisa Frankenstein director wrote that a supposedly 'private video' circulating of her father 'is clearly AI, and not even particularly convincing AI.'
Williams criticized anyone who claims to be a fan and believes it, saying they clearly listened to his movies on mute because that voice is robotic and terrible. She stressed that a human made a robot create it, told those responsible to leave him out of their delusional bullshit and let him rest, and asked: if they cannot make their case without making a dead man make it more convincing for them, then who is manipulating the public through media now?
Zelda continued that she hates the app, calling it a cesspool that is mostly bots and people willingly being duped by bots at this point, and said she was not sure why she felt the need to come back to clarify, but she loves him so she will. She concluded: 'Just because he's gone does not mean he's now your puppet. Have some shame.'
Robin Williams was an iconic comedian who starred in films including Jumanji, Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society, Hook, and Mrs. Doubtfire, and died in 2014 at the age of 63. In recent years, his likeness has become a popular target for AI recreation as users continue to create and share augmented videos of the actor.
This is not the first time Zelda Williams has voiced her feelings about AI. In October 2025, she wrote on Instagram, 'Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad,' adding that people should stop believing she wants to see it or will understand; that if they are just trying to troll her, she has seen way worse and will restrict and move on; and asking anyone with decency to stop doing this to him, to her, and to everyone, full stop, calling it dumb, a waste of time and energy, and not what he would want. Just last month, she revived her father's Instagram account with siblings Zak and Cody in an attempt to fight back against rampant AI abuse of his voice and likeness on the platform.
