Show HN: I built a native app for coding agents with Rust and GPUI

WakuRustGPUIcoding agents

Waku is a YC-backed native app for coding agents, built with Rust and GPUI—the GPU-accelerated framework behind Zed. It promises instant launch and smooth scrolling through years of transcripts, avoiding the overhead of Electron-based tools.

The app connects to each agent over its strongest native interface—stream-json, JSON-RPC, or live events—and normalizes them into one provider-neutral model. Every prompt checkpoints the working tree under a hidden git ref, so you can roll back both the code and the provider conversation together, not just the chat log. The UI is keyboard-first: ⌘N starts a session, ⏎ queues a follow-up while the agent works, ⌘⏎ steers it mid-turn, and Escape stops everything—no mouse required.

Waku is local by architecture: projects, sessions, transcripts, and provider IDs live entirely on your disk, with no account, no telemetry, and no cloud service between you and your agents. The app is signed, notarized, and auto-updated with binary deltas via Sparkle, staying current without demanding attention.
