Google announced a major expansion of Google Beam's global footprint, new data on its real-world impact, and the launch of its first-ever extended network, according to Aaron Luber, Director of Business Development for Google Beam. The product, which Google says is designed to bring people together for genuine face-to-face connection regardless of distance, has been tested with early users including inside Google's own offices.

On distribution, Beam units are now shipping to customers across six countries — the U.S., Canada, the U.K., France, Germany and Japan — supported by a global ecosystem of 18 channel partners equipped to deploy and support the product. The experience is delivered through flagship hardware partner HP as HP Dimension with Google Beam, and integrates with both Google Meet and Zoom to fit existing enterprise collaboration workflows.

For impact, Google cited an eight-week internal study in which teams using Beam felt 50% more connected to one another, found it 33% easier to ensure their feedback was clearly understood, and saw a 21% drop in the need for follow-up meetings. The company said the results reinforced its own plans to expand Beam deployment for Googlers. Externally, Bain & Company tested HP Dimension with Google Beam earlier this year for campus recruiting and candidate interviews, creating face-to-face connections without extensive travel, and first customers also include Netflix and Capital Group.

To make Beam accessible to organizations of all sizes, Google is partnering with Industrious, a global operator of premium flexible workspaces, to create the first-ever Beam extended network. Google said it conducted a pilot earlier this year as part of that effort.
