Anthropic CEOs wife once asked Epstein to fund porn venture – now steers Claude
According to a Wall Street Journal report, Cami Clark, the wife of Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, played a bigger role in the AI company’s meteoric rise than previously known, after her own forays into entrepreneurship. The item’s title frames her as now helping steer Claude. She and Amodei married in 2022, though scant details about her exist online; the Journal noted that searches for 'Dario Amodei’s wife' often turn up a photograph of his sister, Daniela Amodei, who helps run Anthropic. Anthropic’s Claude chatbot is also prone to telling users that 'Dario Amodei’s marital status doesn’t seem to be clearly confirmed.'
Before she met Amodei, Clark and a friend started what was described as a 'revolutionary porn company' aimed at making classy smut billed as 'intellectually promiscuous.' The company, called Eddice, reportedly had a website featuring content titles such as 'Lady Porn Day' and 'Orgasm, Inc.' After an introduction to Epstein in 2011, Clark sent him a warm follow-up: 'Hello Jeffrey! We would love to have dinner with you this evening.' She also sent him her cellphone number. She later followed up by sharing the script/treatment for their first four films, 'American Girl in Paris,' adding, 'A little nsfw.'
A year later, Clark wrote Epstein again to pitch him on investing in her business, saying it had just hired someone from Oprah Winfrey’s company and Ashton Kutcher’s Katalyst, the media company behind shows like 'Punk’d.' When Epstein at first didn’t recall her, Clark wrote, 'We have the free luxury porn company. Does that ring a bell?' Epstein replied, 'Yes, a loud gong,' prompting Clark’s playful response, 'Haha, I was going to say, you would be the first person that didn’t remember us.' Epstein, who was a registered sex offender at the time, turned down the offer, saying he 'Can’t do sex TV.' Clark stayed in touch with Epstein over two years, the Journal reported, inviting him to a Manhattan housewarming party for her and her porn-business cofounder Michelle Capocefalo.
In 2013, Epstein reportedly received a LinkedIn message stating he should congratulate Clark for becoming CEO of 'Female Algorithm Technologies.' Online traces of that venture included a Tumblr account with photos of nude women, a picture of Steve Jobs, and mottos such as 'Great Minds F— Each Other' and 'Let’s Make Lots of Money,' according to the Journal. The report frames the relationship as part of a colorful series of adventures among the world’s tech and business elite for Clark, who is known to keep a low profile. Just before meeting Amodei, Clark dated Google co-founder Eric Schmidt for about three years, though little is known about that relationship.
