Bring your spreadsheet data to life with Sheets canvas

Google Sheets has introduced Sheets canvas, a new feature built with Gemini that transforms traditional spreadsheets into interactive visual dashboards, study trackers, seating charts, and other custom 'mini-apps.' The feature sits as a dynamic, read-write layer directly on top of spreadsheet data, letting users visually organize, edit, and navigate information without needing formulas or programming—simply describe what you want, and Gemini builds it.

Key capabilities include no-code creation via natural language, real-time syncing between the canvas and the original sheet, easy iterative refinement through prompting, and full collaboration since the canvas lives as a tab in Google Sheets. Example use cases highlighted are turning a list of assignments into an interactive study aid, building a fantasy football roster dashboard with player performance tracking and stat comparisons, and simplifying wedding planning with a drag-and-drop interactive seating chart based on RSVP data.

Sheets canvas is now available, according to the announcement.
